Grade 5 Grammar Lesson 16 Punctuation

A dash is used to introduce an explanation in the middle of a sentence. It is also used after a list of items when the list is followed by an explanation.

We use the inverted commas to quote a direct speech. We should take care to place the full stop and question mark inside the inverted comma when writing a direct quotation.
