A prefix is something you add at the beginning of a word. It’s possible to make antonyms of many words by adding prefixes.

The usual prefixes we use to make antonyms are: dis- ill- im- in- un- if- ab- de- and mis

able – disable

literate – illiterate

possible – impossible

correct – incorrect

known – unknown

regular – irregular

normal – abnormal

merit – demerit

understand – misunderstand
