Grade 8 Grammar Lesson 8 The simple past tense
What is the structure of simple past tense?
When do we use the simple past tense?
The simple past tense is formed with the past form of the verb (was, lived, wrote etc). For verbs other than be (was/ were), we use did in negatives and questions.
The simple past tense is used to talk about past events and actions, often with past time adverbs such as yesterday, last week, three days ago, in 1990, on Friday etc.
