There are five main structures to make a simple statement.

subject + verb

subject + verb + complement

subject + verb + adverbial

subject + verb + object + object
Direct object is usually a thing and indirect object is the receiver of the thing.
When the indirect object is placed at the end, then to or for is added before it.
