Grade 9 Grammar Lesson 21 Could and could have
Can we also use ‘could’ to make suggestions?
When do we use ‘could have’?
- Could is not only the past form of can; it can be used to talk about possible actions now or in the future. Could is especially used to make suggestions.
- We also use could when we don’t really mean what we say.
- Sometimes could is used to mean would be able to.
- We use could have for things that were possible but didn’t happen.
