The following verbs are followed by -ing.

risk     practise   can’t face  can’t help   carry on   detest

dislike   enjoy   give up   put off   keep on   go on   mind risk

The following verbs are followed by to infinitive.

offer decide

hope

deserve

manage threaten

learn

forget

seem

appear tend

pretend

claim

happen

undertake

want wish

can’t afford

can’t wait

We can use a wh- word after these words.

ask   advise    explain    forget     learn 

teach   show   understand   wonder    tell
