We use the simple past tense to talk about a completed action or condition, often with time expressions denoting the past (yesterday, last…, in…, … ago).
The past tense is formed by adding d/ ed to most verbs.
miss – missed
hear – heard
Some verbs have irregular past forms.
have – had
be – was/were
run – ran
The negative form is didn’t + present form except for be.
looked – didn’t look
heard – didn’t hear
was – wasn’t
