Grade 6 Grammar Lesson 8 Questions

A question that asks for information begins in a question word or interrogative word. The main question words are: where, when, what, who, whose, which, why and how.

We use how many for countable nouns (number) and how much for uncountable nouns (quantity).

What time may be sometimes used in place of when.

The question word is normally followed by an auxiliary + subject + verb as in a yes/ no question.

But, if the expected answer is the subject then affirmative sentence structure follows the question word.
