We use will when we decide to do something at the time of speaking. The second speaker instantly decides to go and lock the door and says: I will go and lock it.

We often use ‘I think I will’ or ‘I don’t think I will’ for decisions.

We often use will in these situations:

Agreeing to do something

Promising to do something
