Grade 9 Grammar Lesson 18 Used to

What does ‘be used to’ mean?
When do we use ‘be used to’?
Can we use an infinitive after ‘be/get used to’?

  • We use used to to mean that something happened regularly in the past but no longer happens now.
  • We use ‘used to’ for something that was true but isn’t true anymore.
  • The question form is ‘Did.. use to.‘ and the negative form is ‘didn’t use to.’.
  • We don’t have a present form of used to. When we want to express habits and facts that are true for the present time, we use present simple instead.
