Grade 10 Grammar Lesson 4 Present perfect and past simple (2)
When do we use ‘just’ and ‘already’?
Do ‘just’ and ‘already’ suggest positive actions or negative actions?
Can we use ‘yet’ in positive statements?
What do ‘recently’ and ‘lately’ mean?
What do ‘so far’ and ‘up to now’ suggest?
- Just and already suggest completed activities. We use yet in negatives and questions.
- Lately and recently mean ‘in the past few days or weeks’.
- So far and up to now suggest a period lasting up to the present time.
- When we use time adverbs that talk about finished periods of time, we use the past simple rather than the present perfect.
