•  Some verbs are followed by two objects. Usually, the first object is a person or animal (=receiver). We call it indirect object. The second object is usually a thing. We call it a direct object.
•  We can also reverse the order of the objects by making it a prepositional object with to and for.
•  The most common verbs that are followed by double objects are book, build, buy, catch, choose, cook, fetch, find, make, order, pour, save (these take for in prepositional object); and award, give, hand, lend, offer, owe, pass, show, teach, tell, throw (these take to in prepositional object).
•  Verbs that take either to or for in prepositional object include bring, leave, pay, play, post, read, send, sing, take, write.
•  Some verbs that take two objects can’t have the objects reversed with for/to. They include: allow, ask, cost, deny, forgive, guarantee, permit, refuse.
• There are also verbs that can have a second object only if it’s a prepositional object.
